In front of the Wilam Horzyca Theatre, pl. Teatralny 1

Running time: 1h 30

Prominent figures in Polish pop culture, including Radek Łukasiewicz (Bisz/Radex, Pustki, Artur Rojek), Jarek Ważny (Kult rock band), and Janusz Zdunek (Kult rock band), collaborated to produce the acclaimed album Rzeczy ostatnie (The Final Things), which features their interpretations of Polish folk songs. The project began with Łukasiewicz, Ważny, and Zdunek exploring themes of passing, death, and mourning—subjects that, despite being intrinsic to life, remain cultural taboos in Poland. Through their unique compositions, the musicians invite listeners to view life’s ultimate realities from a fresh perspective, offering solace and helping them navigate challenging emotions.

The album The Final Things was born out of extensive conversations and meetings with passionate individuals from across the country, including folk artists from the Zamojszczyzna, Lubelszczyzna, and Podkarpacie regions, as well as rural cantors and singers. Using texts collected by Jarek Ważny and original recordings (captured on a dictaphone, e.g., during rural housewives’ gatherings), the team created compositions tailored to contemporary audiences. The songs feature vocalists from diverse styles, whose unique timbres and emotional depth bring the material to life. Radek Łukasiewicz oversaw the musical production of the album.
