Two o’clock in the morning. Leviva sleeps soundly, but Jonah rolls from side to sidein anguish. The long-term couple find it hard to cope with the pressure of their stifled lifestyle. What has frozen their love? Why do they get the best out of pouringout their mutual resentments? What does their neighbour have to say about that? Who is the loneliest of the three? And why doesn’t anyone ask Ursus maritimus for his opinion?
Labour of Life, directed by Eva Rysova, is an existential tragicomedy about complicated human relationships. An uncompromising and bawdy performance but also a poignant reflection on the human condition.
