Susan Sontag is an original fantasy of the life and work of the titular icon of American culture. It is a potential story of one secret and its consequences, a story of a fracture between repressed privacy and the unvarnished image of a committed activist, of the need for openness and the desire for autonomy, of hidden relationships and disappointed friends dying of AIDS. What is it like to see more, feel more strongly and constantly seek answers to awkward questions?

Susan Sontag is a theatrical photo story – an album of photographs, brought to life before our eyes by an actors’ re-enactment group. What fantasies are hidden in the collection of black and white photographs from theatrical rehearsals inspired by Sontag’s images?

This performance draws the viewer into a vortex of personal dilemmas and emotional tensions. It is a pulsating confrontation with what is most deeply hidden and most difficult to grasp in us
