In 2006 is the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Samuel Beckett. The performance “Two and a half billion seconds” was created to celebrate the genius of the Irish playwright. The performance includes: “The solo”, “Lullaby”, “Hey Joe”, “Foirade II” and “Square”. In addition to rarely staged one-act plays, Toruń theater also proposes one television play (“Hey, Joe”) and a fragment of prose (“Foirade II”). All works are written with mathematical precision and require the same from performers. In his work, Beckett posed the most elementary questions concerning the man – about birth, the sense of being, inevitability of man’s end. One-act plays chosen for this evening show five variants of the same human destiny. Let’s meet with the characters “on the edge of the light.”
