The performance has been prepared by Agnieszka Lipiec-Wróblewska, known to Toruń audience from the realization of the “Wild Duck” by Ibsen. The director is also the author of the adaptation, whose basis are the stories of Anton Chekhov: “Enemies”, “Wife”, “The Lady with the Dog”, “A Dreary Story.” The scenario is an attempt to look at a female figure in a man’s world created in the author’s works. The performance consists of four stories. In each of them, the character is a woman of the same name – Nadia (Nadine). She is presented in the performance in various stages of her life and in her relationships with men – as a wife, a lover, “daughter” of the professor. All situations are Nadia’s attempt to free herself from the domination of the man, a search for happiness and independence. The main character gets rid of each curtain, puts away different masks, exposes to conflicts, misunderstandings, exclusion. Does such life make sense? Is there a recipe for happiness? Is there a solution to her situation? Or the only thing we can do is to search, ask questions.
